About the event

Join us on Thursday, October 17th, for an evening of storytelling, connection, and community in the enchanting "Backyard of Love" at Hibiscus Coffee & Guesthouse. Doors open at 5:00 PM for a cocktail hour, with delicious offerings available for purchase from the beloved Raw & Juicy. Stories begin at 6:00 PM sharp, so arrive early to grab your food, drinks, and a good seat.

October story theme: Waves of Inspiration.

Much like the ebb and flow of the tide, creativity can rise and recede in unexpected ways. Whether it’s the spark that sets a story in motion or the forces that keep us moving forward, these waves of inspiration can shape our paths, crash over us with emotion, or guide us toward calmer waters.

Featured Storyteller: Martha LaGuardia-Kotite.

Captain Martha LaGuardia-Kotite broke barriers as one of the first female officers to serve aboard two Coast Guard cutters with all-male crews. A graduate of the Coast Guard Academy and Harvard University, Martha is also an award-winning author of five books, including So Others May Live – Coast Guard Rescue Swimmers Saving Lives, Defying Death, which was used as a resource for the movie The Guardian.
